‘Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it’
— Brene Brown
Why counselling?
Counselling provides you with a confidential and supportive space to discover solutions to challenges you may be facing, reduce the struggle with your emotions, or explore repeated patterns in your life. You may be seeking a deeper sense of meaning and purpose, dealing with loss or transition, or looking for positive change and personal growth.
A counsellor is a trained empathic listener, skilled at listening for key things and asking questions that will help you to discover more about yourself and what you want from life. My role is not to tell you what to do but to empower you to recognise and achieve what you want and need to do, and give you some tools to help you do that. I would love the opportunity to provide a safe and supportive counselling environment where you feel heard, respected and valued. Some of the things I can help you with include:
Restoring wellbeing, following traumatic events
Developing skills for managing relationship difficulties
Navigating parenting challenges
Moving forward, if you are feeling stuck
Coping with grief and loss
Learning how to cope with painful thoughts and feelings
Processing pain or disillusionment experienced within a faith community
Accessing help with depression, anxiety and stress-related difficulties
‘Thank you for reminding me of the wisdom and strength that I already had and giving me the courage to use them.’
